Updated list of affected countries: some countries removed from the list due to methodological changes

As of Monday, 12 October, isolation will no longer be required for arrivals from Estonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Norway, Germany, Faeroe Islands and another 14 countries. Changes in the list of affected countries have been the result of the introduction of a new principle for listing. From now on, the list will include countries where coronavirus (COVID-19) incidence rate is by 10% or more higher than that in Lithuania. Additional criteria will apply in the case of third countries.

Lithuania’s incidence rate was 55.7 cases per 100 thousand population on Friday, 9 October.

When listing third countries as affected, additional criteria are taken into account, such as the test coverage rate, percentage of positive tests, availability of information, hospitalisation rate and the number of infection cases brought from that particular country to Lithuania.

Also, as a result of this, Bolivia, Kosovo, Turkey, the Philippines, Guatemala, Jamaica, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, Suriname, the Virgin Islands, the Republic of South Africa, Turks and Caicos, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela have been removed from the list of affected countries on Friday.

No isolation will be required for arrivals from Latvia and Estonia. Poland continues to be listed as affected, so do the exceptions applicable in its case.

Arrivals from Poland will not be required to self-isolate when travelling for work, studies, agricultural activities or health care.

Nor will self-isolation be mandatory for those who travel through an affected country by air without leaving the airport transit area or who travel in transit from a country unaffected by a coronavirus infection through Poland with essential stops only, such as refuelling, hygiene, etc.

Please remember that it is no longer required for foreigners coming from affected or third countries to have been tested for COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) at maximum 72 hours before the entry to Lithuania with a negative outcome. A test however will be required when leaving the isolation place for the defined reasons or shortening the isolation period.

Every traveller returning to or arriving in Lithuania by air, sea or land using regular, special and charter services will have to register electronically with the National Public Health Centre (NPHC) by completing a questionnaire. The confirmation received - the so-called QR code - will have to be shown before boarding a plane, ferry, bus or train.

In the case of individual travelling by land, it is obligatory to register electronically with the NPHC within 12 hours from the moment of arrival in the Republic of Lithuania.

The list of affected countries is subject to weekly updates depending on the epidemiological situation in foreign countries.

Minister’s order regarding the list of affected countries is available HERE.
